Plant-Based, Japanese & American Bakes

Tonari (Japanese for 'Neighbor') Bakery is a Boulder-based home-bakery specializing in sweet rolls, cookies, and custom desserts from familiar flavors to Japanese inspired treats. Everything is made with care in small batches, like something from a friendly neighbor, but with a hint of global flavors.

What Type of Bakes?

You’ll find classic American-style baked goods alongside flavors and techniques inspired by Japanese home baking—sometimes traditional, sometimes fusion, always intentional. Think soft milk-breads, balanced sweetness, and flavors that feel both familiar and new.

Our bakes aren’t about authenticity. It’s about honoring both influences and letting them join together into something new.

Baked goods are 100% plant-based*

Popular Bakes

Brown Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies
$26.00

Indulgent brown butter cookies with generous inclusion of 2-types of dark chocolate. Soft-centered with crisp edges, these are decadent without being overly sweet — all balanced with a hint of savory and salt.

1-dozen XL ~4” cookies

Cinnamon Rolls
$18.00

Soft, pillowy rolls made with a slow, overnight fermentation for deeper flavor. Filled with a fragrant cinnamon-sugar swirl, accented with white miso, and finished simply to let the dough shine. Best enjoyed warm.

Kinako Snickerdoodle Cookies
$24.00

A hybrid-flavor reimagining of a classic snickerdoodle, rolled in homemade organic kinako (roasted soybean flour) and cinnamon sugar for a warm, nutty depth. Soft, chewy, and lightly fragrant — familiar, but a little unexpected.

About Tonari Bakery

Tonari Bakery is a small, home-based bakery by Brad, a fourth-generation (yonsei) Japanese American. Inspired by my mother and Obaachan, Japantowns, and asian bakeries, Tonari brings together Japanese and American flavors with an emphasis on balanced, “not-too-sweet” desserts. Everything is made in small batches and meant to be shared.
